You understand something if you have the ability to view it from different perspectives.

Mathematics is a language we use to represent patterns. We invent the language to help us understand and represent the pattern.

If you can change your perspective, you learn something new about what you're observing. The thing doesn't change, you change.

Every equation is a metaphor. Each side represents two different ways of looking at the same thing.
